Comfort

Sometimes comfort comes in the form of a slap in the face

from a caring friend

Or a surprisingly tender display of affection from an unlikely source

A validating remark

An understanding

A shared experience

Sometimes all that’s needed is to know that you aren’t crazy

and things will work out

despite yourself

You are human

You make mistakes

You learn from them

And you move on

Sometimes comfort comes in the form of a good cry

Wailing like you lost something or someone

Until it’s all out

Purged

Leaving you exhausted and empty

Ready to be filled up with good things

Because comfort also comes in the form

of  hope that something better will come along

I am an avid fan of creating narratives in my head about random experiences and quotes for future books I will probably not write. I harbor a 15 year old girl in my psyche and like to solve world issues when I'm half asleep. View all posts by samlobos
